Do you want to work in care or nursing but need to improve your Icelandic?
In this course, you will improve your ability to speak and understand Icelandic. Through targeted exercises and training, you will improve your spoken Icelandic, particularly for communication in hospitals, care homes or for home care.
The course is an intermediate course at level A1.2-A2.1 according to The European Language FrameworkThe course uses a variety of practical learning materials and emphasises active student participation. This makes the Icelandic language course both effective and enjoyable.
Upon enrolling on an Icelandic course, students agree to be moved between groups if necessary to ensure the best possible learning outcome.
You learn and practise vocabulary and phrases related to real-life situations in care and nursing.
You will become more confident in communicating in Icelandic, whether in conversations with patients and care home residents or with colleagues.
You practise clear pronunciation in Icelandic.
Practical grammatical points related to the topic are part of the curriculum and are practised in communication.
Each course is adapted to the specific group of students, so the focus may vary between groups to meet your needs.
The course is for people,18 and over, who wants to learn Icelandic.
The prerequisite is at least Icelandic 1 and 2 (80 hours) or equivalent proficiency.
The course is taught in Icelandic. Participants must be able to express themselves in simple Icelandic and have a basic knowledge of the language. Participants must be able to read and write in Latin script.
A placement test at the start of the course is included in the course fee for those who need it to determine which level is best suited to them for their Icelandic studies. This ensures quality and better results.
To graduate and receive a certificate, it is necessary to pass 75% attendanceon the course.
Please note thatminimum participation is a prerequisite for running the course.

Other: For those coming from countries outside the EEA: Part of the conditions set by the Immigration Authority for obtaining indefinite leave to remain in Iceland is to have completed 150 lessons/120 hours of Icelandic language study. It does not matter if different levels are taken or if levels are repeated.
