The site assessment is in two parts.
Written component: The written component is based on the Eurotest* e-assessment, which is both a self-assessment and a test of reading, listening, vocabulary and grammar. The test takes approximately one hour. You will be sent a link to the test by email.

Oral component: The oral component is a short 10-minute interview via video conference.
Price: Free (0 kr.) for Mímir students
To get a free assessment, you need to:
1: Enrol on an Icelandic course at Mímir.
2: Send an email to: [email protected] and request a status update.
If you are unable to take the online assessment, you can take a written and oral exam on-site at Mími, Höfðabakka. Please email: [email protected]
After the placement test, we will move you to another course if necessary. This way, we ensure that you are placed on the course that best suits you.
To take a general assessment in Icelandic and pay 16,000 kr. (not enrolled on a course):
1: Send an email to: [email protected] and sign up for an Icelandic proficiency assessment.
2: We will contact you within a week of registration.
After a paid assessment, you will receive a certificate showing your proficiency level in reading, listening, vocabulary, grammar and speaking according to The European Language Framework.
Please note that the certificate is an informal document providing information about your Icelandic language skills at the time the assessment was carried out. If you intend to present the document to a third party, it is the responsibility of each company or organisation to decide whether to take the assessment results into account.
Mímir offers an Icelandic language test which can be used to apply for indefinite leave to remain in Iceland.
Confirmations from Mími in this regard are recognised by the Immigration Service.
Proficiency in Icelandic must be at level A1.2 according to The European Language Framework.

Mímir assists these schools with the administration of examinations by providing first-class facilities for students, organising the examination process, and supervising the sitting of exams.
