Mímir at the Lifelong Guidance conference

Kristín Erla Þráinsdóttir, Head of Counselling and Recognition of Prior Learning at Mímir, gave a presentation at the European Lifelong Guidance 5.0 conference, which took place in Vienna on 23–24 March 2026.

In her presentation, Kristín Erla introduced how the advisory service works systematically with competency analysis and assessment of prior learning, and how this directly links to both career development and formal educational pathways. She presented examples from the assessment of prior learning in retail and service jobs, where it has shortened people's study routes and increased their opportunities for career progression. Representatives from many European countries found the Icelandic model particularly interesting, not least because of the strong collaboration between industry, advisory bodies and the education system.
