The Icelandic 2-3 Spoken Language course is tailored for you if you want to gain more confidence in speaking Icelandic. The course focuses on practising fluency, clear pronunciation, and practical communication for everyday life.

Icelandic 2-3 Speech Training is an intermediate course at level A1.2-A2.1 according to The European Language Framework . The course uses a variety of learning materials and ensures active student participation, making the Icelandic language course both effective and enjoyable.

  • We focus on speech practice in real-life situations, and you will practise conversations and narratives with interesting exercises.
  • Proper pronunciation is practised through training in comprehension and fluency in communication.
  • You will build up the confidence to use Icelandic in all sorts of situations.
  • Grammar is reviewed and deepened in relation to speaking exercises and students' prior knowledge.
  • Your skills are assessed at the end of the course and you are given advice on the next steps in your Icelandic studies.

The course is for people, 18 and over, who wants to learn Icelandic.

The prerequisite is Icelandic 1 and 2 (80 hours) or equivalent proficiency. The course is taught in Icelandic.

Participants must be able to express themselves in a simple way in Icelandic and know the basics of the language. Participants must be able to read and write in Latin script.

  • A placement test at the start of the course is included in the course fee for those who need it to determine which level is best suited to them for their Icelandic studies. This ensures quality and better results.
  • To graduate and receive a certificate, it is necessary to achieve a 75% attendance rate on the course.
  •  Please note that a minimum number of participants is required for the course to go ahead.
  • The Icelandic courses at Mími are based on the Icelandic language curriculum for foreigners, published by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Other: For those coming from countries outside the EEA: Part of the conditions set by the Immigration Authority for obtaining indefinite leave to remain in Iceland is to have completed 150 lessons/120 hours of Icelandic language study. It does not matter if different levels are taken or if levels are repeated.
