Mímir graduates 32 doormen

Mímir-símenntun has entered into a partnership with the City of Reykjavík and the Capital Area Police on the organisation and delivery of courses for doormen, which provides them with police approval to work in a doorman capacity. Yesterday, Wednesday 16th May, the first course of the year concluded, with 32 doormen graduating with a licence to work as a doorman for the next three years. After this period, doormen can have their licence renewed for another three years, provided they meet the police force's requirements. The doorman course is intended for practising doormen, those considering a career in doormaning, and also for other hotel and restaurant staff, for example those who work night shifts.

Earlier this month, the City of Reykjavík, The Reykjavík Tourist Board, on behalf of Reykjavík's entertainment venues, the Capital Region Police and the Capital Region Fire and Rescue Service have entered into an agreement which aims to improve communication and cooperation between these parties and to promote violence-free and safe entertainment venues in Reykjavík. The agreement's action plan specifies that only those who have completed a training course and have been approved by the Chief of Police may work as door supervisors.

A new doorkeeping course starts at Mími Lifelong Learning on Tuesday, 22 May, and ends on Thursday, 31 May. Classes are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 16:30 to 19:25.
