Autumn Term 2019 Graduation
„Knowledge knows no borders and we can always add to our store of knowledge – increased knowledge always makes us a better and greater version of ourselves. We must constantly adopt new working methods and prepare ourselves for new technology and new customs,“ said Sólveig Hildur Björnsdóttir, Managing Director of Mímir, among other things, when she addressed the students at the Mímir graduation ceremony, which took place at a festive ceremony in Grafarvogskirkja on 17 December. This time, just over 100 students graduated; 82 from courses and 20 from the recognition of prior learning assessment.
Sólveig Hildur made the societal challenges posed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution a key topic of her address, stressing the importance of continuous professional development in this context: „The opportunities inherent in these technological advances are countless, and it is important that individuals, workplaces and employees seize them. The importance of continuing professional development is unequivocal, and one could say that the education system is, in a way, the glue that holds everything together.“
„When Mímí was recommended to me, something inside me was awakened. And that is why I am standing here,“ said Ívar Guðmundsson, a graduate student from Menntastoðir, in his address on behalf of the graduating students. Ívar said that he had much to thank Mímí for. At Mími, he had gained the self-confidence to work towards making his dreams come true and to pursue new opportunities. Ívar then praised the staff, the teachers, the structure of the course and all the facilities at Mími.
Mímir congratulates all graduating students and their families on their achievement, and wishes everyone a very happy Christmas and a prosperous future.
