Education is entertainment
„Remember that education is fun, too,“ says Hlín Rafnsdóttir, a master's student in guidance and counselling at the University of Iceland, who completed her internship with Mímir this winter, as she encourages people to take the step and start studying again, even after a long break from their studies. We spoke to Hlín about her internship.
„It is rare that we have the opportunity to look behind the scenes and try our hand at other workplaces than our own. Recently, I had such an opportunity at Mímir, where I completed my fieldwork as part of a master's degree in
“Careers and Counselling at the University of Iceland," says Hlín.
„It was very enjoyable and interesting to learn about the work of Mímir, but the wide range of courses means that a diverse group of people use the study and careers advice. There, I meet individuals who are working hard towards their goals.
who are looking to further their education or are considering returning to it, some after a long break.“
„We sometimes get an insight into people's personal lives and see how the challenges of daily life can differ between individuals, which can then affect their studies and careers. Together, we tackle removing the obstacles that may
to be in people's way while learning.“
„When taking the first steps in a new industry, it's important to have guidance from an experienced professional, who in my case was Kristín Erla (who is an absolute gem), and I also got to observe the work of other careers and study advisers.
It is important to see different people at work.“
„I am grateful for the warm welcome at Mími. The staff generally seem ambitious and friendly, and the team appears to be close-knit and committed to making the working day as pleasant as possible.
is.“
„If you're considering studying at Mímir, I'd encourage you to take the plunge. It's easy to book an appointment with the study and careers advisors, whether you prefer to attend in person or use the online service. Also, remember that education is fun!“ says Hlín in conclusion.
