Celebrating Counsellors' Day

Today, Sunday, 20th October, we are celebrating Counsellors and Careers Advisers Day. The day has been celebrated by the Association of Counsellors and Careers Advisers since 2006 and, of course, we at Mímis are highlighting this day. At Mími, four careers advisers assist individuals in making decisions regarding their education or career development. They also provide a service for the competency assessment of community support workers, community and leisure workers, nursery assistants and support workers, as well as competency assessment in the vocational area of retail and service.

„The main aim of careers guidance is to enhance individuals“ awareness of their abilities, attitudes and interests so that they can enjoy their studies and work. The guidance is intended to help people, of any age and in any circumstances, to recognise their strengths, skills and interests so that they can more easily decide on a direction for their education and career. Career guidance is a statutory service, and it is important to ensure access to it, wherever a person is in their educational and career journey."

The interviews are free of charge for individuals, and the advice is primarily intended for individuals with a short formal education and is funded by the Training Authority for the Business Sector.

The aim of Mímis's advisers is to:

  • Provide information on training, career development and the recognition of prior learning.
  •  Provide assistance with writing a CV and covering letter.
  • Provide assistance with organising a job search
  • Provide guidance on good study practices and organisation.
  • To provide information and assistance to strengthen one's position in the labour market.
