Record participation in Icelandic language tests at Mímir for citizenship applications
In May, around 630 people will sit an Icelandic language test at Mímir for applications for Icelandic citizenship. The tests will be held at Mímir, as well as at further education centres in Akureyri, Egilsstaðir and Ísafjörður.
„Mímir is a hive of activity these days and the house is full of people; it's the people who come for the exams, the examiners and the Mímir staff who are responsible for organising and running the project. Mímir has been responsible for administering the exams under a contract with the Centre for Education and School Services for several years, but the number of people taking the exam is increasing year on year,“ says Sólborg Jónsdóttir, a project manager at Mímir who oversees the organisation and administration of the exams.
The exams are held twice a year, in the spring and autumn. There is a great deal of organisation surrounding the exams, which test the candidates' listening, speaking, reading comprehension and writing skills, and numerous staff members from Mímir are involved in the project.
