
Course for Icelandic teachers
Last week, Mímir-símenntun held the course Pedagogical skills of Icelandic teachers – with a focus on safety, quality, and green and digital competence in the health sector. The course was held in connection with the BRICK project, a European project funded by Erasmus+. It aims to enhance the skills of foreign staff in the healthcare sector and other professions, including through professional language teaching and a focus on green and digital skills.
The aim of the course was to empower teachers to connect Icelandic language teaching with the professional context of healthcare. Emphasis was placed on quality and safety in communication and working practices, as well as new skills relating to green standards and digital competence in teaching and the working environment of the healthcare sector.
The course, which lasted for 20 teaching hours, covered a variety of topics, including:
- Methods for linking language learning to real-life situations in workplaces in
healthcare services - Use of digital tools in teaching and project work
- Environmental awareness and green perspectives in teaching and practice
- Safety and quality in educational applications for the healthcare sector
The participants were Icelandic language teachers who shared their experience and developed new teaching methods with the aim of empowering students for work in the healthcare sector. Upon completion of the course, they received a certificate of participation.
Mímir-símenntun focuses on supporting teachers and professionals with a variety of learning pathways and development projects that empower both students and teachers for the future.
