An increasing number of people are taking the Icelandic language test with Mímir for citizenship applications.

Nearly 500 individuals sat the Icelandic language test at Mímir between 17 May and 2 June as part of an application for Icelandic citizenship. The tests were also administered in Akureyri, Egilsstaðir and Ísafjörður in collaboration with local centres for lifelong learning.

There is a comprehensive system in place for the tests, which assess the test-takers' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, and numerous Mímir staff are involved in the project. The work is carried out in accordance with the requirements set by the National Centre for Education, but Mímir is responsible for the administration of the tests on the organisation's behalf.

„The number of people who want to take the exams is constantly growing, but they are held twice a year, in the spring and autumn. Mímir has been responsible for administering the exams for several years, but a great deal of specialisation has now developed at Mímir due to the delivery of these exams,“ says Alma Guðrún Frímannsdóttir, project manager, who oversees the delivery of the exams at Mímir.
