Applying for a residence permit after the Icelandic language test at Mími
Alberto Marcano is one of many who have studied Icelandic at Mímir. He comes from Venezuela, works as a flight attendant and uses every opportunity he gets to speak Icelandic.
Alberto has now received confirmation of his Icelandic language skills to apply for indefinite leave to remain in Iceland. The Immigration Authority requires that those who wish to apply for permanent residence permit demonstrate, among other things, that they have studied Icelandic. It is sufficient to present three certificates of participation in Icelandic language courses. Students who are unable to complete such a course can take a placement test in Icelandic with Mími to demonstrate their knowledge of the language, at level A1.2 – A2.1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Alberto has certainly done very well and recently took an Icelandic language test with Mími, which he passed with flying colours. We at Mími sincerely congratulate him on his success with Icelandic and wish him a bright future here in Iceland.
We encourage you to Introducing Icelandic lessons at Mímir.
