Course for doormen – a safe city centre
On 12 December 2016, the City of Reykjavík, the Icelandic Tourist Board (SAF) on behalf of Reykjavík's entertainment venues, The Capital Region Police and the Capital Region Fire and Rescue Service (SHS) have entered into an agreement on non-violent and safe entertainment venues in Reykjavík. The agreement aims to improve communication and cooperation between these parties. Furthermore, the group's project focuses on Safe Cities, an initiative of which the City of Reykjavík is a member and which was established by UNIFEM. The agreement's action plan specifies that only door supervisors approved by the Chief of Police may work.
A door supervisor course starts at Mími on Monday, 30th April and ends on Wednesday, 16th May. Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:30 to 19:25.
The door supervision course is intended for active door supervisors; it is also suitable for other hotel and restaurant staff who are considering a career in door supervision, for example, those who work night shifts.
Upon completion of the course, participants receive a door supervisor certificate which is valid for three years.
