Covid-19 infection on Aldergate
A case of Covid-19 has been confirmed among a student at Mímir's teaching centre at 23 Aldargata. All necessary measures have been taken in cooperation with the public health contact tracing team and the Director of Public Health to prevent the spread of the infection and thus ensure the utmost safety of staff and students. The contact tracing team is contacting everyone who needs to self-isolate. The training premises at Öldugata has been thoroughly disinfected. Furthermore, emphasis has been placed on ensuring that those who have been to our premises on Aldegata do not attend the main Mímir building at Hafðabakka 9 until after their screening quarantine is complete.
We are, to say the least, disappointed that this situation has arisen, as great emphasis has been placed on infection control in MÍM's teaching facilities, both at Öldugata and Höfðabakka, and we have felt a great sense of solidarity among students and staff in overcoming this pandemic. We have been working closely with the contact tracing team to try and get this under control. We are fortunate to have been able to respond quickly and decisively to this situation, as it involves a small teaching facility in this instance.
We of course hope for the best and that the contact tracing team will be able to get this under control. We would like to thank the students and teachers we have spoken with today regarding this for their positivity and willingness to cooperate.
However, we are pressing on and continue to remind everyone to maintain the highest standards of hygiene, keep a minimum distance of one metre between us, and to stay at home in all circumstances if we experience even the slightest symptoms. We would also like to remind you of the requirement to wear a face covering in all public spaces and where it is not possible to maintain social distancing.
Given the situation, it is understandable that students and staff may have questions, and in such cases, they are encouraged to contact Anneyja Þórunn Þorvaldsdóttir, Assistant to the Executive Director and the school's Safety Officer.[email protected]).
With kind regards,
Sólveig Hildur Björnsdóttir
Executive Director of Mímis
