Education Day of the Business Sector 2026

Mímir participates in a discussion about the future of education and the world of work

Education Day of the Business Sector 2026 was held by the Federation of Icelandic Businesses on 11 February. Professional managers from Mímir, Þórunn Grétarsdóttir, Kristín Erla Þráinsdóttir and María Stefanía Stefánsdóttir, took part in the day on behalf of Mímir, where the focus was on the state and future of the education system in relation to the needs of the business community.

The theme of the day was 'The Future is Calling. Is the education system listening?', and the programme focused on how education and professional development can better meet the real-world conditions of the labour market. The discussion covered the importance of consultation, an increased focus on apprenticeships, and how to empower people to gain knowledge on the job and in the workplace.

For Mími, this discussion is particularly important. Mími's activities are based on close collaboration with the business community and the vision that education is not a cost, but an investment and an opportunity, for both individuals and workplaces. Through targeted education that reflects the real needs of the labour market, it is possible to enhance employability, strengthen professionalism and contribute to increased value creation within companies.

The message from the day was clear: the education system and the world of work need to work together. We at Mímir agree – education is an opportunity for us all.
