Education foundations presented in Hugarafli
Hugarafli gave a warm welcome to the Mímir staff, as always. Mímir's visit to Hugarafli was part of an initiative to introduce Menntastoðir, a competency-based assessment, and provide guidance on learning and careers for those within the scope of further education. Kristín Erla Þráinsdóttir, a careers adviser, presented to the students the opportunities that can arise from receiving careers guidance before taking further steps to get a clear picture of their situation. „It's important to work out what people have completed and where they want to go. Sometimes the Learning Centres are the right path, in some cases a skills assessment, and then in other cases, other routes are available. This is all something that we, the careers advisors at Mímir, can assist with,“ says Kristín Erla.
Not everyone knows that the advice is free of charge.
When asked, Kristín Erla says that advice from careers advisers is free of charge, provided the conditions are met. „This service is free of charge for those who fall within the target group for further education. It is the Training Fund that subsidises the interview with us, and we encourage people to take up that offer,“ says Kristín Erla.
