Foreign visitors visit Mími
Mímir – Lifelong Learning received some distinguished guests on Wednesday, 9th March. Starfsmennt – Training Centre and the Training Authority for the Business Sector are participants in the European cooperation project Com(m)-online: Creating, guiding and coaching. The project aims to support the digital skills and pedagogical knowledge of those working in adult education. Kristín Erla, Joanna and Sigríður Droplaug welcomed the guests on behalf of Mímir. They requested a visit here to Mímir to learn about what we are doing internally in the field of digital teaching. It was extremely interesting to get to know the perspectives from different countries and compare them with what we are doing here, and for them to see what we are doing well and use that in their own work. Part of the project is for the group to then provide feedback to Starfsmennt and the Training Centre on what they feel is being done well and what could be improved, and in doing so, we who work in adult education get the opportunity to further enhance our services,„ says Sigríður Droplaug Jónsdóttir, Director of Education and Development at Mímir.
Cooperation between different parties is important
Remote teaching, online teaching and flipped learning call for a different methodology that it is essential to understand, and as the coronavirus has taught us, it is essential for teachers and instructors in adult education to be technologically proficient and to understand which pedagogy and methodology of delivery suits the content and circumstances. We who are involved in adult education certainly need to be on our toes in this, as in everything else, and it is therefore refreshing to have the opportunity to take on the challenge. „This is a changed landscape from what we are used to, and advances in technology and technological knowledge are flying by. Those of us involved in adult education certainly need to be on our toes in this, as in everything else, and it is therefore refreshing to have the opportunity to welcome international guests and compare notes,“ concludes Sigríður.
