Icelandic teachers on a course

At the beginning of the autumn term, we at Mímir welcomed experts from a European expert network called “Language for Work” to run a two-day workshop for Icelandic teachers and project managers in Mímir's Icelandic team. This network is run by the European Centre for Modern Languages in Graz (ECML, https://www.ecml.at/The course was part of strengthening the support services for our Icelandic teachers.

In the workshop, we learned about task-based language teaching, direct and indirect language support, needs analysis in the workplace, effective teaching methods for teaching functional vocabulary, and methods in language coaching, workplace communication and language advocates.

The trainers were Matilde Grünhage-Monetti and Alexander Braddell, who are the leading experts in Europe in the field of task-based language teaching.
