It's never too late to go back to school!
Maria Stefanía, Head of the Icelandic Department at Mími, and Birgitta, a former student of the school, paid a visit to One hundred Recently, they chatted with Heiðar Austmann, the presenter of Menntastoðir.
They discussed the importance of lifelong learning, diverse educational opportunities for adults, and how Mímir can change the lives of people who want to take a new step in their education or career.
Education foundations are a popular way for those who want to return to education or prepare for university studies.
„This is essentially academic study equivalent to the first and second years of secondary school. It is suitable for people aged 18 and over, and we focus on helping each individual find the right course of study,“ says María, among other things, in the interview.
Birgitta, who graduated from Mími after completing the Foundation Courses, says the experience was transformative.
„I'm an example of a teenager who couldn't be bothered with school,“ she says, smiling. „I dropped out of secondary school and convinced myself I was just stupid. School just wasn't for me.“ But when she enrolled at Mími, everything changed. „I completed the course in one term with very good marks – and that's when I realised I wasn't stupid at all. I found my self-confidence again and the will to do more. It opened up far more possibilities than I had ever realised,“ she says.
