Pulling together to finish our studies in style

Recently, Sigurður Víkingur, a student at Mímir's Learning Centres, and María Stefanía Stefánsdóttir, a careers and study adviser at Mímir, went for an interview on K100. There, they discussed what Menntastoðir ...and how the Education Foundations have provided many people with new opportunities for study. The Education Foundations is a programme for individuals aged 18 and over, providing them with entry into the preparatory departments of the universities, Keili, HR and Bifröst.

Sigurður is 24 years old and started his studies at Menntastoðir in January. He wanted to complete his education but didn't know how he was going to do it. He didn't find the thought of going to secondary school with 16-year-olds very appealing and after searching online, he went for an interview with career and employment adviser to Mimir who helped him find the right path.

„Before I started, I had a very good job at sea and my previous academic career was an absolute disaster. I just fell off the wagon completely. So I thought, “This isn't going to work, this is a massive risk and I'm definitely not going to make any money from this,' and I was about to quit my job and go back to my studies, and I've never been a good student. But the environment at Mími is just so different from anywhere I've been before. You get this mental growth, and you're surrounded by people who are at the same stage, wanting to finish their studies," says Sigurður Víkingur in the interview on K100.
