Mímir celebrates its 20th anniversary

On Thursday, 7th September, Mímir celebrated its 20th anniversary at the school's premises. A varied and entertaining programme was on offer, along with a variety of refreshments.

Singer Þórunn Lárusdóttir was the host, and she, along with pianist Karl Olgeirsson, kept a great atmosphere going. Sólveig Hildur Björnsdóttir, the managing director of Mímir, welcomed guests and spoke about the work of Mímir. The Honourable Minister of Social Affairs and the Labour Market, Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, honoured the attendees with his presence and delivered a speech on the importance of Mímis's work for society. Finnbjörn A. Hermannsson, President of the Icelandic Federation of Labour, then took to the stage and, among other things, reviewed how Mímis's activities have developed over time, and its value to individuals, the labour market and society. Finally, Stella Guðrún, a graduate of the Education Centre, and Sigurður Víkingur, a current student at the Education Centre, gave speeches, both of whom spoke about how the school has given them a head start and future opportunities.

The atmosphere in the hall was excellent, and it is clear that Mímir has touched the minds and hearts of many over the twenty years the school has been operating in its current form.

„In these 20 years, a lot of water has passed under the bridge, and it is safe to say that Mímis has seen great growth over the years. The operation has grown and flourished, and more people than ever have sought our services. I am proud of the privilege of being part of the Mímis group and I am grateful to every single person who has contributed to Mímis,“ said Sólveig, among other things, in her speech, thanking the board and owner of Mími, all staff, both current and former, teachers, students, and all partners for their involvement in the activities over the years.

„Fresh winds are blowing at Mímir, bringing students more exciting opportunities for learning and personal development. I am confident that Mímir has a bright future,“ concluded Sólveig.
