A powerful FA annual meeting about our Icelandic language
The staff of Mímis took part in Annual meeting of the Training Centre for the Business Sector which was held on 13 November at the Grand Hotel, is a collaborative platform for adult and vocational education in the Icelandic labour market. This year, the conference was titled „Connecting – Diversity, Learning, Growth“ and focused on the importance of Icelandic language teaching, language support, and the promotion of Icelandic in society.
The meeting addressed the rapidly growing participation of immigrants in education, the role of language support in the workplace, and the challenges and opportunities inherent in a multicultural society. Experts, managers and stakeholders shared experiences and solutions, covering everything from policy-making and workplace culture to teaching methods and the vision for further education.
The points raised at the annual meeting are well in line with the policy that Mímir has set for Icelandic teaching: that human teaching, relationships and interactive communication are of the utmost importance in language learning. The importance of language support in the workplace, access to learning and the quality of teaching were discussed – key factors that research shows have the greatest impact on student success. Mímir and its partners are already at the forefront of this, particularly in work-related Icelandic language teaching, enhancing language skills in the workplace, and in innovation through international collaborative projects.
The meeting highlighted the importance of strong and targeted collaboration between educational institutions, the business community, and the public sector when it comes to Icelandic language learning and integration into society. Mímir continues to contribute through a diverse range of courses, professional support and services that meet the varied needs of the country's residents.
