New teaching material strengthens immigrants' Icelandic language skills for the job market
Mímir has developed new teaching material, VINNUtal, which supports practical Icelandic language teaching in the labour market. The material is based on a detailed needs analysis of workplaces and consultation with the business community, educational providers and language teaching specialists.
VINNUtal is an electronic and flexible teaching resource that offers new possibilities in Icelandic language teaching for the labour market by making it easier for educators to adapt instruction within workplaces to different working environments and students' ability levels. With a special focus on spoken language practice and vocabulary related to workplaces, the material supports real-life communication in Icelandic and increased participation of immigrants in the Icelandic labour market.
The aim is to boost students' self-confidence, support independent learning and increase their opportunities for active participation in society.
The teaching materials will be available to everyone on the Mímis website.
