Teaching of Icelandic to foreigners revolutionised
For the first time in Mímis's history, all Icelandic for foreigners teaching is now taking place online. This is a temporary measure while the public health doctor's ban on gatherings is in place due to COVID-19.
It could be said that the new reality we are all learning to live in because of the lockdown has pushed us at Mími well and truly over the edge in utilising technology for all our customer services. Language teaching for foreigners is no exception. Of course, various challenges have been met, but they have been resolved through the positive attitude, resourcefulness and patience of our teachers and students. Teachers use various games and other apps in their teaching, which takes place via the Innu learning platform. Most teachers also offer online meetings with their groups.
It is admirable to see how well our students are progressing on their journey into the world of technology. A team of staff at Mímir assists both teachers and students with the technology implementation, as well as supporting those students who wish to be. Students are also encouraged to make use of the services of the careers and study advisers at Mímir. An appointment can be booked by telephoning 580 1800 or by emailing [email protected]
