Thanks
Dear teachers and students
Now that the Health Minister has confirmed an extension of the public gathering ban due to the pandemic, it is clear that learning and teaching at Mímir will remain in the digital world for the rest of this spring term.
The activities of Mímir and school life have undergone significant changes in a short space of time following the lockdown. Both teachers and students have shown admirable initiative and resilience in meeting the new demands for digital communication. The technological future is suddenly the present, perhaps sooner than we anticipated. We are certainly facing new challenges, but also new solutions.
Gratitude to you all
My foremost thought is gratitude to you all. I am proud of how you have coped with difficult and challenging circumstances in school life and in the community. I am proud of our community, of how the staff, teachers and students at Mímis have handled a challenging situation with composure, resourcefulness and, not least, common sense during these times. Now, more than ever, it is important to stand together and show compassion for one another.
The staff at Mímir are on hand and ready to help. I encourage teachers to contact the technology development team for assistance with digitising their teaching. I would also like to remind you of the student team, our careers advisors, who are appointed to support our students. I also encourage you to keep a close eye on developments concerning the school's operations on the school's online news channels., www.mimir.is and a Facebook page.
Autumn term at Mímir
Preparations for the autumn term are in full swing, and we will start advertising the courses after Easter. In light of the current uncertainty, we will be offering both on-campus and online learning for almost all courses. This arrangement will be reviewed regularly in light of the situation in society.
Mímir is now preparing for increased demand by developing resources for those who lose their jobs. This, however, is dependent on securing sufficient funding for the implementation. Further education, including Mímir, was a strong supporter during the crash, playing a key role in the education and activation of people, among other things in collaboration with the Employment Service.
This is a long run.
Many people have difficult tasks ahead of them. Now, more than ever, it is important to look out for one another and stand together. Let's listen to Víðir. Let's agree to continue on the path we have followed for the past three weeks, respect the rules on quarantine and the ban on gatherings, try to limit unnecessary contact and observe good hygiene. We all bear responsibility. We are civil defence.
This is a marathon. Admittedly, there are obstacles in our way, but together we will overcome them with resilience and perseverance. The storm will pass and better times will come. While we wait, let us take special care of one another and focus on what gives life its value.
I wish you all and your families a happy Easter.
