Qualification for a community interpreter

On the 22nd of December last, seven students graduated from a programme for community interpreter At Mími. Community interpreters interpret communication between people and institutions across the community in a professional and impartial manner.

Mímis Community Interpretation course is a practical programme that strengthens people's position in the job market and opens doors to new opportunities. On the course, students learn about the role, responsibilities, procedures and challenges of interpreters, as well as about Icelandic society and its main institutions, and receive training in interpreting.
