Women's Strike 24 October – Support and Understanding
On Friday, 24th October, the Women's Strike will take place, marking the 50th anniversary of this important event and is part of the Year of Women 2025.
On this day, women and non-binary people are encouraged to strike from both paid and unpaid work to show solidarity in the fight for equality. Solidarity rallies will be held across the country, including in Reykjavík's city centre where the programme begins in the afternoon.
Mímir supports the equality struggle of women and queer people and encourages managers and teachers to create conditions that enable women and queer people to participate in the day's organised programme.
We also hope that students and other staff will show understanding and support, even if teaching and services are temporarily disrupted.
