The learning components are divided into two main categories: personal and professional skills.

  • Raising preschool children: Deepen your understanding of the key aspects of parenting.
  • Art activities with children: Get inspiration and methods to boost children's creativity.
  • Multicultural nursery school: Learn to meet the needs of children from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Environmental education: Acquire the knowledge and skills to implement environmental awareness in nursery practice.

The course is for those who work in nurseries, are over 20 years old and have not completed a formal secondary education.

The target group for further education, as determined by the Board of the Training Fund.

The course is taught in Icelandic. To participate in the programme and to ensure the best possible academic performance, we recommend that participants have skills at a minimum of. level A2-B1 in Icelandic according to the European Language Framework.

  • Assessment is based on attendance and activity in class, which encourages active participation.
  • To complete the programme and graduate, an 80% attendance rate is required.
  • The course is subsidised by the Education Fund to equalise access and promote learning for adults.
  • Teaching is conducted in accordance with the curriculum of the Centre for Professional Education, accredited by the Centre for Education and School Services, which ensures quality and reliability. All curricula can be accessed here.
  • Work experience and study are equivalent to up to 17 secondary school credits. The school management of each school is responsible for the school's assessment of studies from other educational institutions.
  • Course Delivery: Please note that a minimum number of participants is required for the course to go ahead.
