The Icelandic 6 course is tailored for you if you have successfully completed level 5 or have comparable proficiency in Icelandic.
The course focuses on continuing to build a varied vocabulary. You will practise all aspects of the language, namely reading, writing, grammar, comprehension and speaking, in line with your needs.

The course is partly individualised. It is based on reading texts, interactive exercises, coursework submissions and online discussion with the tutor, as well as student group work.
Icelandic 6 is an advanced course at level B1.2 according to the The European Language Framework. The course uses a variety of learning materials and active student participation to ensure effective and enjoyable learning of Icelandic. It is based on selected texts and tasks, as well as material from the internet and social media, in line with students' interests and needs.
• You continue to learn Icelandic that is useful in daily life and relates to social discourse and your needs.
• We place an emphasis on speech practice and on you practising a variety of Icelandic, both in conversation and narration.
• You use a variety of techniques that increase your confidence in speaking Icelandic, expressing your opinions and taking part in discussions.
• All language skills are practised in the Icelandic course: Listening, speaking, reading and writing.
• Grammar is continued to be taught and practised in connection with the course material and based on what you have already learnt.
• Your skills are assessed at the end of the course and you are advised on the next steps in your Icelandic studies.
The course is for people aged 18 and over who want to learn Icelandic. A prerequisite is Icelandic 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 (200 hours) or equivalent knowledge.
At level six, Icelandic is used in teaching. Participants must be able to read and write in Latin script.
A placement test at the start of the course is included in the course fee for those who need it to determine which level is best suited to them for their Icelandic studies. This ensures quality and better results.
To graduate and receive a certificate, it is necessary to achieve a 75% attendance rate on the course.

Other: For those coming from countries outside the EEA: Part of the conditions set by the Immigration Authority for obtaining indefinite leave to remain in Iceland is to have completed 150 lessons/120 hours of Icelandic language study. It does not matter if different levels are taken or if levels are repeated.
