The BRICK project has completed its first year of operation.

Mímir is a partner in the Erasmus+ project BRICK, alongside France and Italy, under the coordination of Fondazione ISMU in Milan. The project's aim is to strengthen the skills of immigrants and increase their opportunities in the labour market through the development of work-related language teaching that connects language skills, job security, and digital and green skills.

The project's first year of operation has now concluded, and during this time, significant progress has been made in enhancing the skills and participation of immigrants in the labour market. Among the activities during this period was a Training4Trainers course, attended by seven Icelandic language teachers, which was held at Mími. The emphasis was on teaching methods for functional Icelandic and teaching BRICK-related content, such as quality and safety in the workplace, as well as green and digital skills.

Two pilot courses were also held as part of the project. One of these was a standalone BRICK course, while the other integrated BRICK material with a care workshop at Mímir. In both cases, the emphasis was on linking Icelandic language learning to real-life workplace situations and on enhancing knowledge of health and safety at work, as well as digital and green skills. A total of 27 students took part in the two courses.

Individualised training was also offered for four participants for the period from February to May 2026.

Further information about the project can be found here.

The second phase of the Bricks project will begin in the autumn term of 2026 and will focus on disseminating the results, promoting the project, and collaborating with stakeholders.
