Technical changes last semester

Since the start of the second term, there has been a great deal of activity in Mímir's IT department. In line with changes to the company's image and facilities, Mímir has invested in a complete overhaul of its technical infrastructure, with the aim of improving conditions for staff, teachers and students.

The equipment in the meeting room was overhauled and state-of-the-art video conferencing equipment was put into use. This will help to strengthen collaboration with foreign institutions and schools.

The upgrade of the company's computer equipment, however, covers not only Mímis' internal operations but also its teaching activities. New computers have been put into use in the teacher's room, in classrooms, and for student use.

Alongside the upgrade of computers in classrooms, there has been a complete renewal of teaching equipment. New interactive displays have been installed in all classrooms, along with videoconferencing equipment to support more flexible teaching methods.

Mímir has therefore taken great strides this term in increasing its capacity to meet people's needs for more flexible learning that is not solely confined to on-site study.

Mímir has also continued its journey to minimise paper use. Information screens have been installed outside all classrooms, which will significantly reduce the need to print out timetables as they will be moved entirely to a digital format.

Finally, two things are worth mentioning. A new all-purpose information screen in reception will be put into use next term. It will be used to provide students with information about the time and location of their courses each day. There are also plans to install a teaching screen in Esja, which will be available for students for project work.

It is therefore safe to say that Mímir has taken great strides this past semester in bringing the company more into the modern era and creating a stronger technological foundation for teaching, learning, and day-to-day work for the future.
