Skills in the labour market

On 8 September, the 'Skills for the Labour Market' course (workshop 4), which is based on the vocational curriculum of further education, will begin again. The project is a collaboration between Mímir, The Labour Office and The Training Centres of the Business Sector and is intended for adults with reduced working capacity who wish to enter the labour market. The course consists of 70 hours of classroom-based training with Mími, plus 110 hours of work-based learning.

The course places an emphasis on enhancing general employability and preparing for the work placement. Students also create a CV and a covering letter, and in addition, have a one-to-one interview with a Mímir careers and employment adviser. Upon graduation, participants deliver a presentation about their on-the-job training. In addition to a certificate of participation, students are presented with the 'Fagbréf atvinnulífsins' (Vocational Qualification for the Working Life) upon graduation, which is a valuable document when applying for a job.

The group's teacher will be Kristín Ólafsdóttir.
