Securitas staff graduation with the Professional Certificate
On 20 February, a major step was taken in lifelong learning and professional development in the Icelandic labour market when Mímir Lifelong Learning awarded 14 Securitas employees with the Professional Certificate.
This graduation marks a milestone, as it is the first group to graduate with a professional certificate from the collaboration between Mímir and Securitas. This is a major milestone for both the employees, who receive confirmation of their competence in their roles, and for the company, which has placed great emphasis on professionalism and competency development within the workplace.
The graduation ceremony highlighted the importance of the project and how it has strengthened both the individuals and the company.
Eiríkur Ronald Jósepsson, a specialist and assessor at Securitas, described the practical skills assessment process from the perspective of the participants. He emphasised how important this approach is for highlighting employees' abilities and providing them with recognition for their knowledge and experience.
Maj-Britt Hjördís Briem from the Federation of Icelandic Businesses explained the process of the Professional Certificate. She also discussed the collaboration between companies and educational institutions and how the recognition of prior learning is a key tool in lifelong learning and skills development in the labour market.
Kristín Erla Þráinsdóttir, Head of Counselling and Recognition of Prior Learning at Mímir, spoke about the benefits of this project, the collaboration with Securitas, and the importance of formally recognising employees' competence. Confirmed competence in the job, through a professional qualification, benefits both the employees and the workplace for the future.
The professional certificates are issued by the Training Centre for the Business Sector and ensure that the process has been carried out using certified methods. Kristín Erla, Head of Counselling and Recognition of Prior Learning at Mímir, presented the professional certificates and congratulated the staff on this important milestone.
