Mímis's counselling reflects the diversity of society

In 2024, the study and careers advisors of Mímis Continuing Education conducted a total of 1,737 interviews. Although the total number has decreased slightly from the previous year, there have been significant changes in the group seeking advice. There was a notable increase among those seeking advice from Mímir who hold foreign citizenship.

Interviews with individuals with Icelandic citizenship were nearly a thousand, and at the same time, interviews with individuals with foreign citizenship increased by 49.21%. This development reflects the increasing diversity among learners and highlights the importance of providing professional services that take into account the different backgrounds, language skills and goals of the target group for further education.

The need for targeted and accessible advice for people of foreign origin is essential. Professional advice is important for those settling in Iceland, for instance, to get information about opportunities to learn Icelandic, potential career paths, and to find their way in a new society.

Mímis's education and careers advisers play a key role in this by offering an accessible and professional service that supports inclusion, participation and opportunities for growth.

Mímis's study and careers advisers provide personalised guidance, where clients receive assistance to analyse their situation, explore options for study and employment, and plan their next steps. Interviews for the further education target group are free of charge. The guidance is primarily intended for people with a short formal education and is funded by an education fund managed by the National Centre for Education.
