
Staff from Mímis attended the autumn meeting of Símennt, an association of adult education and lifelong learning centres.
Ten Mímis staff attended a well-attended autumn meeting. Continuing education, an association of adult education and continuing education centres, in Borgarnes, on the 25th and 26th of September. The meeting addressed, among other things, the diverse development projects that adult education centres are working on, both on a national level and in European cooperation. Under this item, representatives from Mímir presented three development projects. These were the Discover and Empower project, which concerns guidance on education and careers for the target group of adult learners of foreign origin, the project Language Mentors in Icelandic for Companies, and the project BRICK, which aims to enhance the skills of foreign staff in the healthcare sector and other professions, including through work-related language teaching and a focus on green and digital competence.
Representatives from the Education Centre for the Business Sector presented a statistical summary on the use of funds from the Education Fund for study programmes and study and career guidance by region. Representatives from Fjölmennt then presented their visits to all the adult education centres and the challenges, ideas, and opportunities for collaboration that the sector offers. At the end of the meeting, there were workshops on topics within further education, where participants had the opportunity to discuss and gain an insight into the work of all the adult education centres.
