Autumn Term 2017 Graduation
The Autumn Term 2017 graduation ceremony took place at Grafarvogskirkja on 21 December. Nearly 100 students graduated this time from the following programmes:
- School leaders
- Service personnel
- Food handling
- Course 1 in Care
- Further education for social workers on disability
- Skills in travel
- Primary school
- Menntastoðir
The programme began with a speech from the Director of Mímir, Sólveig Hildur Björnsdóttir. Then, Helga Lind Hjartardóttir, a careers and study counsellor, took over and hosted the ceremony with her usual brilliance. Vilborg Arna Gissurardóttir, a polar explorer, came and gave some encouraging words to the students, urging them to follow their hearts and use love to achieve their goals. Father and daughter, Valgeir Skagfjörð and Elísabet Skagfjörð, performed a beautiful musical piece, and Erling Rafn Konráðsson gave a speech on behalf of the graduating students. He spoke of the great support and encouragement he received from the teachers and staff at Mímir in his studies and also announced that he had enrolled in further education. We at Mímir always find that very pleasing to hear. If we manage to ignite a small spark in our students to continue their studies and become a greater and better version of themselves, then our aim is achieved. After the graduation ceremony, where students received their certificates and had their photos taken, coffee and refreshments were served. We wish all our students the very best in their future endeavours and thank them for their company.
